Introduction

These terms and conditions (the “Terms”) apply to your use of RemiStudy, the revision website and app at remistudy.com (the “Service”). The Service is created and run by Finley Austin, based in England (“RemiStudy”, “we”, “us”, “our”). “You” means the person using the Service.

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which together form the agreement between you and us (the “Contract”). If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

Beta. The Service is currently in beta. Some features may change, be incomplete or not work as expected. Please tell us about any problem at hello@remistudy.com.

Our Service

  1. RemiStudy is a revision tool for students. It lets you make flashcards and folders, revise them in different modes, plan your revision, take breathing breaks, add friends, and join revision rooms and leaderboards.
  2. Some features use artificial intelligence (“AI”) to write flashcards, mind maps and study plans, mark written answers and answer questions. AI can be wrong or incomplete. The Service is a study aid and is not a replacement for your teachers, textbooks or exam board specifications. You should check anything important against your course material.
  3. Cards written by the AI, and folders containing them, are marked with a gold ring.
  4. We do not guarantee any exam result or grade.

Eligibility

  1. You must be 13 or over to use the Service.
  2. If you are under 18, you must have the permission of a parent or carer, and they should read these Terms with you.
  3. The Service is for personal, non-commercial study. Schools and businesses who wish to use it for a group must contact us first.

Registration and Account Integrity

  1. You must give a real email address that belongs to you. Email addresses that contain a “+” before the “@” cannot be used, and an email address that is already registered (including versions of it with dots or capital letters added) cannot be used to create a second account.
  2. Each person may have one account only. You must not create extra accounts to get more free trials, AI allowance, XP or leaderboard places.
  3. You must keep your password private and you are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
  4. For your security you will be logged out automatically after 30 minutes without any activity.
  5. Your username must not be offensive, misleading, someone else’s name, or include contact details or social media handles. We may change or remove usernames that break these Terms.
  6. Friends are added using a private friend code. Only share your code with people you know. You can block or report anyone at any time from the Social page.

Pricing, Plans and Features

  1. Standard is free and includes every revision mode, folders, the study planner, leaderboards, friends and joining revision rooms.
  2. RemiStudy Pro adds the AI features, creating revision rooms, sharing folders with friends, and revising folders friends share with you.
  3. Cards written by the AI, and folders shared with you by friends, need Pro. If your Pro plan or trial ends, these are locked. They are kept safe and unlock again as soon as you are back on Pro. A folder that contains AI-written cards can only be shared with people on Pro.
  4. AI features are subject to fair-use limits, which reset each day at midnight (UK time). These include limits on how many AI requests can be made each day, each hour and each minute. The limits shown in the app form part of these Terms.
  5. We may change the features included in each plan, and our prices. If a change affects a plan you have paid for, we will tell you before it applies and you may cancel.

Payment

  1. Paid plans are not yet available. When they are, we will show you the price, what is included and how often you will be charged before you pay.
  2. All prices will be shown in pounds sterling and include any VAT that applies.
  3. Payments will be taken by our payment provider. We do not see or store your full card details.
  4. If a payment fails, we may move your account to Standard until the payment is made.

Cancellation

  1. You can cancel a paid plan at any time. Pro will then continue until the end of the period you have paid for and will not renew.
  2. If you buy Pro, you normally have 14 days to cancel and receive a refund. Because Pro is digital content that starts straight away, we will ask you to agree to it starting immediately, and you will lose this right to cancel once it has started. Your other legal rights are not affected.
  3. You may delete your account at any time from Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, cards, progress, friends and any revision rooms you own, and cannot be undone.

Trial and Offer Periods

  1. You may try Pro free for 7 days, once per person. No payment details are needed for the trial.
  2. At the end of the trial your account returns to Standard unless you choose to buy Pro.
  3. From time to time we may offer Pro for free or at a discount (for example during launch). Any offer can be ended at any time, and Clause 3 of Pricing, Plans and Features (above) applies when it ends.

Your Content

  1. You keep ownership of everything you add to the Service, including notes, cards, pictures, plans and mind maps (“Your Content”).
  2. You give us permission to store, copy and process Your Content only so that we can run the Service for you. This includes sending it to our AI provider when you use AI features, and showing shared folders to the people you share them with.
  3. You must only add content you have the right to use. You must not upload anything illegal, hateful, sexual, violent, bullying or harassing, other people’s personal information, or other people’s copyrighted work in a way that breaks the law.
  4. If you share a folder in a revision room, the people in that room receive their own copy to revise while it is shared with them.
  5. We may remove any content that breaks these Terms.

Acceptable Use and Safety

  1. You must treat other users with respect. You must not bully, harass, threaten or groom anyone, ask other users for personal details, photos or to meet in person, or send unwanted friend requests or room invites.
  2. You must not cheat XP, leaderboards or revision rooms, or use bots, scripts or extra accounts.
  3. You must not try to get into other people’s accounts or data, or test, probe, overload or attack the Service or the AI.
  4. You must not copy, scrape or resell the Service, or use it to build a competing product.
  5. Reports are reviewed by us. We may reset XP, remove users from leaderboards, or suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. Where we believe a child may be at risk we may share information with the appropriate authorities.
  6. If you ever feel unsafe because of another user, block and report them, and talk to a parent, carer or teacher you trust.

Access and Backups

  1. We work hard to keep the Service available and Your Content safe, but we cannot promise the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors.
  2. We may need to suspend the Service for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control.
  3. We may update, change or stop features. If we close the Service, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice so you can export your cards.
  4. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything important. Folders can be exported from the app.

Intellectual Property Rights

  1. The RemiStudy name, logo, design, software and all content we provide (other than Your Content) belong to us or our licensors.
  2. Nothing in these Terms gives you any rights in them, other than the right to use the Service as set out below.

Licence to Use the Service

  1. We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the Service for your own study while you keep to these Terms.
  2. This licence ends automatically if your account is closed.

Limitations of Liability

  1. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
    • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
    • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
    • anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your rights as a consumer.
  2. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when you started using the Service.
  3. The Service is for personal study. We are not liable for any business losses, or for exam results.
  4. We are not responsible for errors in content written by the AI, or for content added by other users.
  5. If you have paid us, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem.

Indemnity

If you are 18 or over, you agree to compensate us for any claims, losses or costs that arise because you broke these Terms or uploaded content you did not have the right to use.

Variation

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you do not agree to the change, you may stop using the Service and delete your account. The date at the top shows when these Terms were last updated.

Entire Agreement

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will still apply. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we may still enforce it later.

Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring a claim in your local courts.
